I see a lot of 2003-08 Fords for sale cheap. I know they had all kinds of issues.

I'd love to find a mid 90s Ford but they aren't exactly cheap.

Can anyone recommend what yea Fords to stay away from or other makes / models.

Specifically looking for 4wd ext can or 4 door

I've got an old '92 dodge cummins with 74,000 original miles I'd sell.

70s-90s ford with the 300 straight 6 is what you need. Slow as balls but plenty of torque to do anything you need done around the farm and the 300 i6 will last forever.

If it has a 6.0 or 6.4 avoid it. They are cheaper for a reason

You could get a 2500 gas chevy, it would be fine pulling that for those distances.

Your tow capacity won't be limited by the 300cid i6 it will be limited by the platform (f150/250/350) gear and brakes. With the right gears and platform the i6 will pull it. Not very fast maybe at 55-60 mph but it will get pulled. If you are pulling on the interstate you definitely want the diesel.

Exactly why I said I need more than that. And yes there will be highway use.

Well, OP has first right of refusal, but I didn't read his entire post, lol. It's a 2WD single cab with an 8' bed. I'm looking for $3800.

You have mail. Sorry I didn't read your whole post, but she isn't even broken in yet with such low mileage and gets 23 mpg.

You can make a very good deal on a Ford with a 6.0 if you shop it right. Odds are the engine will need some work but the rest of the truck is very good and people are scared to death of them. Still not cheap by any stretch but there are good deals to be had on them.

. Those seem to be getting rarer than hens teeth. The scariest thing to me about those engines is folks not using the proper coolant in them-the blocks had issues with erosion. Plus tough cold starts. I'm always looking for a good one, too. Another thing is the 250's had the Wierdo Dana 50 TTB front axle. My old man had a 93 no turbo 4x4 reg cab long bed f250. I found the truck a few yrs back but the dude that had it wouldn't sell it to me for some fkn reason. Truck was just sitting.

They are by far the best deals on the used truck market right now, problem is finding ones that have not been running big tunes, they don't like them.

had great luck with mine
