Currently have a 2009 6.4 f250. I was told on here to be careful with that year/model. So far it has been good, but I'm already tired of driving a diesel. I want to trade it in before i have any costly repairs and get a new truck. I need/want the following:

4x4
large enough to pull a 43 hp tractor
4 doors for kids

I dont need any of the fancy stuff. Thinking about just basic work truck bc it stays filthy with kids, baseball, hunting, etc.

Right now I'm looking at the 6.2 F250 and found one I like. Is there something else out there I need to be looking at? Tia

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the big 3 in a 3/4 ton gasser. It really all comes down to preference, and if you like ford the 6.2 drivetrain is proven and reliable

^^^^^^
What he said, other than if I was going 3/4 ton 4x4 it'd be a dodge or ford so I could get the solid front axle instead of the irs junk.

I'm a GM Duramax fan, but I have a work bud that gets great service from a Dodge 3/4 ton 4x4 crew cab, and pretty damn good mileage.

I have the 6'2 in a 2012 F-150 Lariat and it has been an outstanding engine.

More specs on the tractor please. I pull my JD990 (40hp) with FEL and all 4 tires loaded with my 1/2 ton with no problems and yes I do have trailer brakes.

I am currently shopping 3/4 ton gassers. YouTube is your friend. There is a channel that has a video comparing the ford and the dodge that I just watched the other night that compared the two on a 200 mile loop both hauling a trailer and empty. It seems the 6.4 Hemi gets the best reviews. I'm leaning towards Ram in the Tradesman trim level but with the seats and wheel upgrades. 4-door 4x4 can be found for around 36,000$

How often and how far are you pulling. We have a little 30something horse tractor that can pull fine with a stock half ton

Nissans new HD is nice

I really like the GM 3/4 ton in the 06-07 classic with the 6.0. With the 4.10 gears it'll pull anything. Found a crew cab 06 4wd with 87k miles on it the other day for 16k. It didn't last long

Itl be my next truck

That's the setup I currently have, it's a tradesman st. I love the 6.4 and it's very stout

If shopping used and looking at rams with the 6.4 just use caution around the 2014 models. They had a bad batch of wrist pins from the supplier for 6 months or so (don't quote me on the exact date but september rings a bell) other than that they have proven themselves

Looking now at the 5.7 tundra. What would y'all say is the better vehicle between the 5.7 tundra and the 6.2 f250?

The tundra is a great truck in itself with a solid powerplant and there will be plenty people chiming in to let you know, however, it's still a 1/2 ton.

I would go with the ford, simply because it is built for heavy duty(brakes, trans, SFA, additional cool cap.) The list goes on and on. You'll get a tremendous amount more of a truck for the price and It'll pull anything you throw at it especially if you ever intend to upgrade that tractor.

The other point is that realistically you will get the same fuel mileage out of both trucks because the tundra is known to stay thirsty
