Remington core-lokt is what I have always shot. No need to go dicking around and try to mess with something that works perfectly out to 150
Eta: when I have something that shoots out further much more flat
I mean, frick....people shoot my 22 out to 500 all day long. Is it a good idea for me to go out and try to drop a tree rat at 500yds? No, it is a waste of time

Shooting paper and real live animals are 2 different things. If you're shooting a 30-30 250 yds I imagine you either miss or lose a lot of deer.

Ummmm....no. If there is a faster, flatter shooting round that offers extended range and better terminal ballistics for only a couple of dollars more per box of 20 you'd be pretty stupid not to give it a try. Stick in the mud mentality at its finest...

Ill use the 30-30 out to 150 yds and be happy with it, anything past that, the aught 6 gets taken out the case.
There's no need to try and overextend a round that has no business shooting that far.

i bought mine because i wanted a cowboy gun
i've shot it several times for fun and it's great but i keep finding excuses to take my other rifles instead of the 336

No, I really don't miss much of anything since I actually spend time at the range trying new things out. Maybe if you did the same you'd know you are a bit out of date with what a 336W can actually do these days. I ran 170gr CL's for years and that was pretty much all I ever bought because the gun likes them. Tried the 160gr Hornadys and it was a whole different game such that I ditched the fixed 4x scope for a 3x-9x Leupold.

It is great in areas with briars, yaupon, vines, etc. Basically if you are walking anywhere, it is a perfect gun. Barely pokes out above my left shoulder and below my right hip, which means that I dont have to worry about it snagging on shite. Best gun in the woods.
If you drive your Bentley to the air conditioned, catered stand, there are better guns.
Besides that, I like shooting open sights. I am one of those d-bags with see through mounts

You don't have a damn clue about the particular round but simple things for simple people I guess...

I know a few things about a 30-30, one of the few things I know about it is, it's really not meant to shoot past 150 yds. But hey, if you wanna shoot that far with it go right ahead. There's many, many better calibers made for shooting that far, and I'll stick to using them for long range.

That's my preferred setup down here. Under 30-40 yards, I want to use my sights.

Your trolling is obsolete. Go find a bench and box of chocolates kid.

I'm left handed btw, so I felt like a 30-30 would be perfect. Also, have always wanted to own a lever action. Seem like a lot of fun to shoot. Do they have a lot of knock down power?

its a frickn 170 grain bullet! plenty enough to kno k a deer down within its range. Are there better longer range rifles of course, will the 30-30 get the job done 150yards and in of course. It has killed plenty of deer in its time. If you want one then get it. You will enjoy

I was thinking of ejection, but I see what you're saying.
