I am looking for a pack to use for deer hunting and also be able to take it on 1-3 day hunts in the Rockies. The pack needs to be light, less than 3,500ci, rugged, comfortable, able to carry a heavy load "meat" and I'd like it to be the last pack I buy for a while. Im looking at quality so my price range is up to $400.

I know for drop camps I'll need a bigger pack but I'd like to be able to carry this one in empty, with the bigger pack and use it after I make camp.

What suggestions do you have? Thanks

My recommendation would be to look at elberstock. We used them in Afghanistan and they were perfect took a beating and never had a issue with them.

I would also recommend you take a look at Mystery Ranch.

I've used bags from them as well as Eberlestock and both companies make some great weight bearing technical bags.

Eberlestock is a fantastic company that makes a very rugged and quality product. I went with a modular system of a stand alone frame and an attachable pack.

F1 Mainframe

F2 Transformer Pack

X2 Pack

That Team Elk pack already posted is fantastic too.
