Looking at the Dillon RL550 and the Hornady LNL AP
Which one and why?

Dillon
Simple. Best warranty and support in the business.

Was leaning that way but didn't know if the Hornady would be better for the money.

(My vote) Whichever does the most action per pull. My buddy's dad had a big blue behemoth that did everything when he pulled the lever. He'd be reloading with one hand and pounding old Milwaukee tall boys with the other. He only reloaded .45 and 7.62. He was kind of a prepper.

Have heard that the Hornady LNL gives you more flexibility. I have yet to dive into the world of progressive loading though. I'm living in the single-stage stone age.

Would there be any other suggestions?
Would the 650 XL be that much better?

Don't own a progressive (yet) but here's some of my research
550 - doesn't auto index, adding bullet feeder makes it congested (from a dealer that sells Dillon), caliber change is incredible quick if you buy an extra toolhead
650 - way to go for a dillon if you want bullet feeder/case feeder
Hornady - auto indexes, 5 positions allow powder check, price similar to 550, from what I've read most that buy these like them
Dillon dealer I have spoke to recommends 550 over 650 to me since when I tell him how much I shoot. Few hundred rounds every 2-4 weeks

The one that comes to the internet posting a picture of his blown up gun and can't figure out what happened...
