Excuse my ignorance, but why couldn't they just roll it up under a wma or run it like that? Just make everyone but a license and put up a self clearing station.

Should have just announced an OB party/hog shoot.

They go on private land and tell private property owners what to do with levees. They can make you spend $30,000 on maintenance if they have it out for you.

Wow, our family owns levee property (rural, north of BR) and I always wondered how the levee boards, etc viewed their rights and responsibilities as opposed to ours. It's family property and been in the family for generations but I figure they will try to take by force at some point.

I can see them offering to help us by mandating that we pay for some trumped up work and then "helping us" by taking the property when we don't wish to put tens of thousands of dollars of unneeded work into it.

The parish has been so nice by offering to "help us" by paving our mile long driveway by turning it into a public road and gaining easement to a huge chunk of land. No thanks.
