I just ran power out to my carport, and I am looking to put a motion sensor facing the street and separate the flood lights and put them aiming towards the house underneath the carport.

Pretty much every motion sensor has medium to low reviews, so I don't know where to get that or what to get. Have yall ever done something with a sensor separate from the actual light? There are also a gazillion LED flood lights, so any help narrowing it down would be much appreciated. IIRC, the carport is 12x18

Not sure if anyone local is stocking these yet, but they are pretty nice and sound like what you are looking for. Should sell for about $100 ea retail.

Motions for the most part are problematic. Why not dusk to dawn since you'll be using LED, super low draw.

The light is gonna be over my truck. Motion adds some shock value, and I feel like dusk to dawn ones entice people to look in my shite

I feel they entice people to go look in your dark neighbors shite, but that's just me.
Good luck.

Looks dim as shite. This is where LEDs are weak. They look brighter looking directly at them but they don't throw light like incadesants

The OB thing to do would be mount a LED bar under the carport, and wire to motion switch

Already have plans in the making to put a 60" two color light bar in place of my 3rd brake light. It'll be on a hair trigger.

I found another thread that mentions RAB lights. They make separate motion sensors also. Any experience?

Out of all of the things I've bought in my lifetime, cheap stuff never ends up being cheap. I've got some bad luck dealing with anything subpar

I have 75w daylight LED flood lights and my house looks like the fricking super bowl halftime show.

I bought 120w bulbs at first and kept them up for one night before downgrading to the 75w because I was positive my neighbors would complain.

LED floods are the shite.

I somewhat agree. I bought some LED fixtures for a buddies deer lease for 35$ each, I installed something similar on a job that cost 485$. It's your money.

Installing LED's, why would you need to turn them off? Hell, they good for 50K hours and don't draw crap for power.

I have the round Defiant ones from Home Depot. They are really bright and I have been pleased.

I have two different types of motion floods from home depot, and both stopped working once, and have been replaced. One is only working on one side now. If they worked, I would feel comfortable buying them

I upgraded to LED spots in my backyard and my drive. Kids spend more time playing in the yard and shooting basketball in the drive because of the LED bulbs. The lights in the drive stay on all night, and no problems with the punk kids in the neighborhood messing around. My other neighbors without spots haven't been so lucky.

Ended up ordering this RAB . Should be coming in tomorrow so I can finish the job up. Looking forward to having a motion light that'll actually work for a while
