If so why get a small gun.

The time we shot at a range she was a recoil wuss

CCW instructor told her .22WMR would have no recoil and she's been on that bandwagon since then. I am trying to steer her away from rimfire.

A full size .45 has minimal recoil

I can have a Glock, she can have a 1911. I think that's great

I think I need to buy another Sig

No I mean why not get a mid sized 9mm. Not a small 380 that doesn't have much grip to hold. If she can fit a glock 19 or something similar in size in her purse that may have less felt recoil than the tiny 380's.

Yeah, that's an option I haven't considered. I don't think she would want to carry a mid sized gun around, she would probably keep it in a purse.

A larger gun will always be easier to shoot - period.

Of course this is generally speaking. I'm not saying a S&W500 is easier to shoot than an LCP. If you keep the calibers the same, aka a full size 9mm vs a single stack subcompact 9mm, the full size will always be easier to shoot.

The main dilemma you need to settle is what is the largest gun that she can COMFORTABLY tote around. Once you figure out the size, go from there on deciding a specific model that fits her hands well.

That's where I would start.

Yeah, I guess it's back to the drawing board. Bapple, what would you suggest I start with a smaller sized 9mm? I really like the sights on the Sig P238 and she liked the way it fit her hand. Something similar to the P238 in a 9mm. I really don't think she wants to pack around something like a M&P subcompact type gun. She hated my Glock 23 go figure

ETA: What about the Sig P938 recoil wise? She liked the thumb safety feature and I liked the stock night sights.

If you like the Sig P238 the P938 is just like it in 9mm.

Anyone looked at the Springfield EMP 1911 9mm? Looks like a nice gun for carry.

Never been a huge fan of 9mm 1911s, there are better options out there in 9mm.

Well you'll need to define "smaller" first. My double-stack 9mm compact carry gun is my Ruger SR9c. My single-stack 9mm subcompact carry gun is my Kahr CM9. Both are great but only she will know if they are the right fit for her.

She liked the P238 in her hands( hasn't shot one) and I don't think she's going to tote around anything much bigger than that. I'm hoping she'll like the P938 and can tolerate the recoil. Wonder if a range has a rental she can shoot. I'd be happy just to get her off of the .22WMR mindset.

She really needs to shoot one. The little grips have a bite that I don't like. I would rather something bigger grip even if it means more caliber its more of a push than a sting.

I think precision by seigon rents guns to use on the range. May be worth a visit if you live in the area.

I was told it could be as late as August before they get any locally. Haven't seen any online either. That was my plan as well before the Sig. This was first range session doing some fast draws and Mozambique drill
