Lawn help....killing Bahia/growing Bermuda

Need some help with my lawn. Right now I have mostly Bahia and it's very annoying to cut due to the long tails along with the general thickness of the grass. I'd love to plant Bermuda and get rid of the Bahia. I've talked to a few people about it and they've all said to spray the tails with roundup to kill the root and just throw some Bermuda seed out there and water it.
Is it really this simple or do you know of a better way?

MSM.
I used it the last two years and it murdered the bahaia.
This year, it hardly even came back. Didn't even treat.
Stuff is magic.

Been using metsulfuron (Manor herbicide) at .05 oz per gallon to spot spray Bahia in my Augustine. Works great. That's less than a teaspoon of herbicide per 3 or 4 gallons. It takes about two weeks before you notice anything but after a month or so, the Bahia will be gone. You can spray it right over your other grasses. Will slightly ding it but it comes back nice. Bahia has to be actively growing or it won't work. The herbicide is pricey but a little bit goes a very long way

MSM is crazy cheap. A $20 bottle of granules will do the two needed treatments on an acre and a half.

So do I mix the MSM with water and just spray the tails? If so, will it kill all the bahia and then I can just throw some bermuda seed out there for it to grow?
I'm looking at the MSM on amazon and you're right, it's only $20 and comes in small bottle.

Mow often, it will kill the Bahia if you keep it down

You want to spray the area where you are seeing the seed heads from the bahia. You want to spray the actual leaves of the grass not the stalk of the seedheads. You can mow it about 2 days after you spray it, but I would wait at least a week if you can hold off.
You want to mow your yard high after that to allow the other grasses to outcompete. You are going to have big brown dead spots in your yard in a month or so, thats where I would spread the bermuda seeds

Where did you buy the MSM Scoop? My local feed and seed guys said you have to have a license to buy it.
Bahia is f-ing up my front lawn.

Will do. I'll test it in one section of my yard and if it works, I'll tackle the rest of it. Thanks

I have been using 0.05 oz/gal and it smokes the bahia. It takes very very little of the granules to put in the tank. Good luck

Its take a little while to start working so don't be discouraged if you don't see any injury within 1.5-2 weeks
