Got the invite two weekends ago to hunt the opener with my buddy down in south Florida south of state road 70. Season opened 3/7 down there.
Never been to the property before so just picked a spot off of the aerial map I thought they would pitch down to. Sure as shite was right. Two pitched down 200 yards away, gave em the old cluck n purr and they were in our laps within 2 minutes. One stayed at 50 yards but the other came to 32 yards and I was in the better position so I took the shot.
Went in for breakfast and headed back to the property and on the way passed one of his orange groves and saw a big bird working a hen. Parked at the gate and ran to about 15 rows over from where he was and called then hens right to us. 6 yard shot and he was down.
Tomorrow opens up at my property and I'm stoked to get back out!

Fine Job OP. Beautiful birds.
I agree. The only thing I've done close to that is kill one in a cemetery. There was an odd feeling watching the top of his fan pass over all those headstones. Took me forever to get a shot where I wouldn't shoot someone's PawPaw's headstone.

Nice birds. Where at in Florida? State Road 70 goes from Fort Pierce to Bradenton.

You're hunting in Highlands County and were in AGR? Pretty sure we know each other or the same people at the very least. Congrats on the birds

Haha Ya I'm sure we do. I feel like half of Agr is highlands, desoto or Polk county.
