What are some good lakes in Louisiana / Mississippi areas to look at for buying property? I'm looking for something 2-3 hours from New Orleans with good fishing and boating. Any ideas ?

Man, if you live near the gulf, you have no reason for lake property.

LSUCouyon lives on Poverty Point. These are pretty small lots. If you are looking for a big piece of property, you won't find it there. Lake has good fishing, no jet skis, and a designated skiing area. There are some beautiful sunsets.

I just bought 2 acres on Lake Norman in NC. I figured if I was going inland I was going for enough to leave the bugs, heat and humidity. Good luck w you search.

I would love to build on the gulf but don't want to deal with hurricanes. I plan to keep my house in New Orleans and want something 2-3 hours away that I can get to easily. We visited Big Bay Lake outside of Hattiesburg and it's really nice but very pricey. Not sure if we want to spend $150000 on just a lot. Was thinking about taking a ride to visit lake bruin

I love the Toledo bend idea but it's almost 5 hours away and I could see that being too far to use all the time.

Don't even consider this. IF your lot comes with a boat pass it's an additional 10k. And waterfront lots aren't cheap

I'd look into Old River in Batchelor

You can always get an apt on the river in Madisonville or a house in Lake Ramsay

What are people's thoughts on Lake Verret?

Also, I know a buddy who bought a camp for CHEAP at Old River.

I just finished building my home in here. It's a great neighborhood, but not really a "camp" type place.
