Planning on putting the boat in the water for the first time in a while Friday. How crowded should I expect the trestles to be? Are the reefs on the west side of the causeway producing?

I went for the first time ever and it was a CF, get there early and mark your spot. That'll give you 30-60 minutes till they come into where you are casting.
Go during the week if possible.

If the wind forecast holds you will have the lake to yourself in most areas as it supposed to be SE 10-15 if that holds will be pretty tough fishing. Would have to launch from the south shore and stay close to shore. I would find a different spot with marsh protection like hopedale/Delacroix.

If you're set on fishing lake p, do this and launch from south shore marina or somewhere around chef. That'll give you easy access to irish bayou rocks and south trestles. Also if the wind kicks up too much you can head the other way and fish the ICW marsh

Will be there myself this weekend. If wind isn't as bad I'll be out there for my first time. If wind is like they say it will be, might stay in marsh or hit CSX bridge to see if anything biting over there.

Launched in Mandeville last week. Caught one trout and one red on Causeway. Headed east towards trestles. Stopped at reef balls by the old lacombe shell pads and couldn't get a bite on artificial while a charter boat was parked next to us reeling them in 3 at a time on live shrimp.
Headed to the trestles. Only was catching very small trout on artificial.
Went to both bait shops at Rigolets and they were all sold out.

So, Launch at Pelican Pointe marina and head to the lacombe reef balls for specs or to the CSX train bridge in Lake Borgne for all the reds and black drum you can stand.

Thanks for info. Staying at a camp by Rigolet marina all weekend so I'm gonna try all sorts of different spots I've mapped out if the wind will let me. Definitely gonna bring live shrimp wherever I go.
