Anyone been to the lake Mechant, Falgout, Dularge area in the past couple weeks? If so, any hints (lures, spots) you would be willing to share? Looking to catch a few reds this weekend.

Redfish are thick around the points of Mechant. Just find some moving water and somewhat clean

If you’re in a shallow boat go sight casting in the marsh.

This time of year I like the troll the banks of Mechant late afternoon with spinners/plastics.

Much appreciated. Yes, shallow water rig. You talking of the Marsh on the north end? I have had some luck on the east bank a month ago but not large numbers.

Yep North end. Start at the West end of Goose Bay and troll the whole North bank to the East until you can’t troll anymore, al the way around to the South East of Mechant

Does anybody remember a sand flat in Mechant that had a sunken shrimp boat sticking out of the water?

I do vaguely remember.....but I think it is in an adjacent lake. Maybe Lost lake. Interested if others remember. However, Mechant does have a few sunken treasures that are to be avoided.

That area got whacked pretty good by Barry. I fished a week after the storm and there were trash and marsh clumps all over that had gotten tossed around. Some of the camps (on barges) from bayou decade / racourcci Area broke loose and moved around. The water and marsh stunk. I’m sure it’s starting to flush out and return to normal with some of the rain lately. Be careful, there’s some trash out there from the storm.

I remember hammering schooling reds there with my dad back in the 90s. It was about 2 ft of water with a sand bottom. Can remember my dad hooking a red and the school following it in to the boat.

There is a sand flat on the north end of the lake as you come out of raccourci bayou. Ran into it last year on low tide

Did well on redfish along the southern banks of Lake De Cade last week. There was a lot of bait in the area. Fished early and late on fresh shrimp.

I fished both Mon. and Tue. three of us close to limits of specks and reds both days. As mentioned reds on north west side of Mechant, fishing dead shrimp under a cork slow trolling along the bank. No fish caught after 11 am.

Went last week in Mechant. Caught plenty reds on a shrimp. Started at the white sign right next to that bayou on nw side and trolled the bank. Went into the cut and they quit biting. Came back out and got on them again. 3 other boats in the area doing the same.
