Tell me about it. Is it fishable with all the grass? Can you get around in a glass boat?

Typical swamp lake in south Louisiana. Hard to fish but when it's on, it's fun. Grass gets thick in summer but not miserable. You'll be fine in a glass boat as long as you use trolling motor. Not big enough to run anyways. Fish duckblinds and stay a ways out from bank, throwat edge of cypress, and work it all the way too you. That's where I've had luck but mostly end of March-April

Absolutely

Yes, but it can make it challenging.

It's an extremely bipolar lake. But there are some nice fish in there. I rarely have a mediocre day over there. It's usually either feast or famine. You could either flip to the trees with jigs or weedless plastics, toss frogs on top the grass, or run spinnerbaits along grass lines and anywhere else you can get away with it. I always leave baits with treble hooks at home.

That doesn't sound bad at all.

It's my go-to winter fishing spot. Mainly because the grass dies back a good bit and it's easier to fish. I'll usually throw buzzbaits on top of the grass and weightless senkos up against the trees. Usually by late summer the grass is all the way out to the middle of the lake. But it'll still be fishable, just more difficult.

I was picturing so much grass that jigs wouldn't be an option. I love flipping jigs at cypress trees. Sounds like a great 3 hour getaway.

That is the case with a lot of the trees in there. But they're not all fully loaded with grass.

I may try to run out there this week if work allows.

The water is pretty clean in there. Sometimes trying some finesse is a good idea. If you scratch don't get discouraged. That's not uncommon.

Went to half moon this afternoon. Caught a few bream. Zero bass bites. Water was stained, a little higher than usual according to a local i spoke to there.

Ive been wanting to go there, but the talk of all the grass discouraged me. Maybe i should make a trip after all. Besides, im not breaking the scales at 2 oclock, little bama, or half moon. And henderson is still muddy and high.
