The switch was prompted, in part, by the threat of a lawsuit by women who had failed the Sheriff's Academy, the Times said.

Shocker

"With the advent of the new weapon, deputies are obtaining better scores at the firing range and more recruits are passing the firearms test."

Not surprising. DA/SA triggers have been falling out of favor with LE agencies for a couple of decades, for this exact reason.

The recent debate on this board over "Beretta 92 vs. Taurus PT92 clone" completely omitted this issue. I presume the OP in that thread had some other reasons that caused him to focus his search on those two guns.

Doing something in response to a threat of lawsuit is almost always not a good idea. If they wanted to change sidearms, they had a number of good reasons.

Sounds like a number of their officers developed some bad habits w/ the typically long/heavy DA trigger pull on the Beretta.
