Last year the legislature passed a law that if you have a protective order against you a judge can ban you from owning a firearm up to 10 years. This year HB 780 will get the local sheriff's involved in confiscating your firearms if you don't have a person that you can transfer them. Anyone else aware of this?

Now I have no issues with law breakers and wife beaters not being able to posses firearms but we all know there are some very vindictive members of the opposite sex that can cry wolf knowing her old mans guns will get taken away. Judges can be assholes as well.

Also part of this bill is the inventory process where they are basically going to record the make model and serial number of every gun and store it in a database somewhere.

It is always tricky figuring out the logistics of who gets to actually go take the guns away. Because no one wants to do that.

The exact reason that the doomsday scenario of an Australian style gun ban won't ever happen here. No ONE wants to be the guy who gets to go knock on the door with that task.
