Looking to get a suppressor and not having much luck locating a local dealer. One close by in Pearl River LA but evidently nfa items can’t be purchased across state lines. Figured the OB might know a thing or two.

Go to Silencer Shop and look for an affiliate dealer.
They are out of Austin, but have dealers all over the USA. They also will do a trust for you. Very simple process through them.

Bill’s Customs, Mississippi Auto Arms, Lop-eared Coyote, Worldwide Firearms Manufacturing...

Just from a quick search.

Thanks Gaston I will look into those. Not looking to drive over an hour or two anything longer than that it probably won’t happen.

If an hour long drive is going to put you off, maybe we should warn you about the year long wait to get approved tax forms right now.

I am very aware of the wait times. But this is a toy plain and simple and I am simply not willing to take a road trip for a $1000 toy. I will just buy another rifle locally or put that money on a thermal.

Bayou Gun Runner just moved from Walker to Magnolia Mississippi, not sure what he has in stock currently but he always had a few Rugged and Deadairs most of the time.

Really is a shame about state to state sales as there is a dealer just across the state line literally 20 min from me. Kind of surprised at the sarcastic answers on the OB. Not everyone can take the time to make a 7 hour road trip then back again months later . Was just hoping someone had more knowledge of the local area than a google search with state name.

You talking about the silencershop recommendation?

Thats not sarcastic, thats very real and could probably be your best bet.

Go to their website and search for dealers close to you. Its probably the most painless way to buy one and they have a large selection.

Some of the recommendations thrown out there are north of Jackson and I am down on the coast. Silencer co lists a place called mikes speed shop in Purvis that may be my best shot other than Gulfport. Both are about the same distance. Guess I was spoiled living in Houma all those years. Rural southern ms has way less options for anything gun related.

You can do state to state, by the way. Only the final transfer on a Form 4 from an FFL to you has to be from an FFL in your state. If you find an item in another state that you like, the item can be transferred from FFL to your local FFL on a Form 3. The local FFL then will handle the Form 4 to transfer it to you.

You will likely have to pay both FFLs for this service to handle all the paperwork.

This is how Silencer Shop operates, BTW. If you are in Texas, they handle the Form 4 directly. If you are not, they Form 3 it to your local gunshop they're affiliated with. Silencer Shop mails the Form 4 and pays for the stamp, but the LGS is listed as the trasnferror, not Silencer Shop and the Form 4 is signed by you and your LGS. Silencer Shop handles everything, but legally, your LGS is who is transferring the can to you, not Silencer Shop. The LGS and silencer shot have an agreed upon price for a can and whatever price you pay is higher than that price. The LGS gets the difference between the two prices for their trouble.

The point is that you can absolutely get out of state items; it transfers from FFL to FFL just like non-NFA guns and rifles. It's just more paperwork with the feds that your LGS has to handle versus a gun transfer. Not all of them are willing to handle NFA items for this or other personal reasons. Go to your local guys and ask. You might be surprised at what they can do for you and their contact network that they're comfortable working with may have just what you need. Also, getting it transferred to your local LGS on a Form 3 means you may be able to use it at their range while it's in NFA jail, if they have one.

Has to be an NFA dealer though right can’t just have it sent to your standard FFL?

I believe that is correct. The transfer from FFL to FFL has to be between licensees that also pay the Special Occupational Tax (SOT). Not every FFL is an SOT. On the other hand, not every SOT openly handles NFA items in their main business. You might be surprised at what your local gun guy is equipped to handle but might not put out front and center. Ask them and you may get an answer you like.

At the very least, they'll know who to point you toward, if they aren't an SOT. The NFA community is fairly small, so the guys who are involved tend to be known and know of each other within the larger gun community. My guys at the range, my trust attorney, and my NFA guy all know each other personally.

Yeah local shop didn’t know of anyone “so they said” almost as if suppressor was a dirty word in there. Said maybe on the coast so assuming Gulfport. I am in Pearl River County and never would have guessed the lack of dealers around here. Shop in Pearl River LA has gemtech and another brand I think but they were some weird uppitty old dudes.

That place in Purvis or Gulfport may be your best bet. Good luck!

This is a pretty decent FFL locator. Check the "SOT only" box.
