A ceramic rod is my fav. Can get them cheap online - epoxy it into any kind of grip - antler, etc.
However, since I started prowling the OT, I now have a butler sharpen all my knives daily.

my younger brother is a knife sharpening sumbitch. Uses my Dad's old sharpening stone. I can't stand the scrapeing noise made when you rub/pull it across it so I just bring them to him

I'm old school, I use a leather strop for 90% of my sharpening and if the blade gets really bad I'll use a diamond whetstone to re do the edge.
No idea who makes the whetstone I've had it for about 20 years and the strop I made myself out of old leather.

I use a Furi diamond fingers exclusively. Pull the knife blades through until they shave.
