It's getting further away from BR, but off Chef Hwy launching into the Marques Canal is good. There is a marsh area to the south of the canal with some reds and the mouth of Marques at Lake Katherine holds trout sometimes.

I've been eyeing that area on Google Earth for a couple years now. Haven't made it down there yet. Looks pretty grassy on satellite images.

It is obnoxiously grassy in late spring/early summer. It should be more clear this time of year, but I have not checked.

Last weekend we kayaked through Bayou Daytoe/Bayou Leche area (between Chef and Bienvnue) and the grass was not bad at all.

We hauled the yaks there on the Xpress just to try it out. I live off Chef, but that would be a long paddle!

Couple of reports of limits of specks being caught at the mouth of Bayou Liberty and Bayou Bonfouca.

The closest launch will be Bayou Liberty Marina (see the star right in the middle of the map). I saw several people in small boats get their limits of specks within 200 yards from the marina this passed Monday morning when I was bank fishing from near there. Lots and lots of throwbacks though. One guy said he had his limit but must have thrown back nearly 100 to get 25.

Oh, and to the OP... if you're going to launch at Irish Bayou, your best bet is heading east and south... not west. See the red line I added to your original image.
