Also, what ammo are you feeding it? I bought some CCI minimags as I heard they are pretty good quality as far as .22lr goes

There are much cheaper mounts and scopes than the 2 I posted.

I wouldn't have put that type stuff on my 22 if I didn't already have it on my other AR. It is a quick release mount so it swaps easily.

I have fed it all kinds of ammo with no trouble. I can't remember which kinds exactly. It has all been cheap bulk stuff though.

The only answer.

I really hate CCI rimfire ammo. It's dirty and inconsistent as hell.

CCI Minimags are known as some of the best quality and cleanest of the .22lr rounds

I've never shot minimags. I only shoot standard velocity stuff, and CCI's standard velocity stuff sucks balls. They're CB subsonic loads are terrible also.

Minimags by themselves are kinda expensive- about $7.00/100. I bought them in bulk so they came to $5.99/100. I typically compare the base prices of boxes of 50 to see exactly how much more I'd be paying so $3.00/50 box compares to $2.00/50 box of cheap ammo, I figured it would be worth it to get the clean stuff

I have a remminton that will shoot anything all day long. My marlin doesn't do as good with the bulk stuff. I normally keep some of both. Plus I have a 22 revolver 9 shot that is fun as hell to shoot. Bulk is the way with it.

For those recommending a breakdown/lube job on the gun, what should I be lubing up and will Rem Oil do the trick?

CCI stingers are about the hottest damn thing you can put in it. I've never had problems with then.

It is brand new- do I need to do anything such as clean it prior to first use?

Yes, you should clean THE BORE to remove any small filings/shavings that will be in the bore as a part of the barrel manufacturing process. I don't worry about cleaning the action unless I see filings/shavings in the action when I inspect the action. I don't normally lube the action unless the gun's not cycling well.

So a boresnake tipped with a little Hoppes #9 will work?

That should be fine. Clean that gun and go shoot the heck out of it!
