Yes, Gen 4's have removable backstraps for adjustment. I wonder what the overall cost of this search was. They should have just picked the Glock 19 Gen4 day one. I wonder whether Gaston's nasty divorce was a factor.

And what is being advanced here? This Sig isn't going to shoot 9mm ball ammo any better than the M9. Not faster, not more accurately, and the 2 oz difference in weight is meaningless. Beretta offered the M9A3's for less than the current M9's. Combined with parts commonality and platform training retention, the Army is pissing away millions to solve a problem no new handgun is going to solve.

Fair enough. Is the difference really only 2oz? Seems like it would be a lot more.

I don't know this as a fact but likely that they can put any caliber in the gun pretty easily. They wanted modular and it fits the bill.

Don't disagree with this one bit. $580mm to be exact.

My 92FS is 31oz w/ empty mag, the Sig is 29oz w/ empty mag.

Given that other Federal agencies are moving back to 9mm and SF already use other handguns in the calibers they want there is no real justification for inducing such a logistical abortion to the military at large. No commander is going to let their soldiers pick calibers at will, they will choose one and stick with it. The modularity benfit is just a bullshite excuse to waste money.

The Beretta was my primary weapon for years. How much training did I get on it? 0 hours. fricking Army trains you like crazy on the M4 (or whatever it is now) and none on a pistol.

I hated moving from the Colt 1911 to the Beretta but I did it.
