I picked up a p320 unexpectedly at a banquet auction.

I'm pleasantly surprised. Great little gun

Stick to the current M9's and spend the money on training.

While not a bad pistol, it got past by 20 years ago. The feds should be relatively up to date with tech. Would probably save money on the long run...isn't the m9 quite a bit more than the sig?

Wasn't a manual safety one of the stipulations? Was Glock going to put one on the 19? BTW, I own an M9 and it's great.

Ah may be so. Why do they need a safety when no local agencies use one? Too many untrained IRS workers lol?

Pretty much. They'd rather spend money on a manual safety than spend money training people. As I understand it, sidearm training in the military is a joke/nonexistent.

And what is being advanced here? This Sig isn't going to shoot 9mm ball ammo any better than the M9. Not faster, not more accurately, and the 2 oz difference in weight is meaningless. Beretta offered the M9A3's for less than the current M9's. Combined with parts commonality and platform training retention, the Army is pissing away millions to solve a problem no new handgun is going to solve.

You are 100% spot on, but also speaking to the problem that is our government in a nut shell. You could substitute this issue with many others and say pretty close to the exact same words.

FTR, in the Army, its embarrassing what they teach you in regards to the M9

I think Beretta lost this contract when they moved out of Maryland.

P320

Awesome, ended up getting a bit too fouled up at this years DU banquet and bought one in 9mm without realizing the caliber. Already have 3 others 9mm, but this one definitely shoots the best right out of the box.

match-grade accuracy (90% or better chance 4? circle at 50 meters)
low felt recoil impulse

The first requirement is unreal.

Everybody government spec I've ever seen has been unreal. The first release of a technical spec is usually laughably unrealistic. There's no telling how many drafts that first requirement has been through.

I have a buddy who went from the Navy into USSS and he said the sidearm training is like 500x more advanced.

As did the Marine Raiders, but those quantities won't come near the numbers required for the entire Army.

So is there an incoming contract with Surefire or Streamlight?

No I'm talking about the dopes that'll be dropping their P226's and going out to buy G19s

Oh, in that case I wouldn't mind picking up a barely used P226 for cheap
