Weatherby Vanguard 2 30/06 topped with Nikon 4x14x44mm and loaded with federal 150 gr soft points
Abandoned pecan orchard with fresh rubs.
Sitting in a turkey chair against a pecan tree watching a tree line. Wind in my face, perfect. Landowner said mature doe or 16” beamed buck and all the pigs I see. Now if I could just get a volunteer to show up, good luck to all out this morning.

Sitting in the same box stand I hunted as 13 year old, looking for where I’m sure I carved my initials into the stand somewhere while enjoying a cup of coffee in the silence. It was a cool moment, and I can’t help but think… of how incredibly uncomfortable this chair is. I done fricked around and got soft.

I’ve seen 4 different flocks of speckled bellies flying with the wind this morning, Venice bound? Usually they’re headed west while flying over this area, not southeast. I’m hoping the deer move now that the sun is poking through the clouds, we’ll see.
