Is there an increase in Mississippi Kites this year in the BR area?

I hear their call seemingly all day.
I see them flying all over mid city.
And they’ve been hanging out above the house.

Beautiful bird. Not complaining. Just don’t remember seeing this many!

They have absolutely exploded over the past few years. I love to watch them. Most have no idea what they are.

They need to revise that map. Kites have been nesting in large quantities in Ellic and West of for a while now.

I was intrigued a few months ago. I knew it wasn’t a hawk so took a picture and asked a well informed friend. The articles say they might be spotted in suburbs but I’ve seen them as far as Seigen Lane.

we have a pair that's been spending their summers in Luling for the past few years - We enjoy seeing them fly / snag insects on the move.
