coworker of mine in Broussard told me he didn't think you could harvest alligators in Lake Bigeaux. I'm only asking because, while sitting at a dead stop on I10W last week, I saw one of the biggest gators I've ever seen swimming beneath the interstate.
I've seen some lines set between Ramah and Whiskey Bay, but never around Pelba, etc. Just wondering if there is a reason for it- other than poor eyesight.

North of the interstate is Indian Bayou WMA. They pick 6 lottery hunters that each get 3 tags.

thanks Hank. no wonder I see so many of those things when I drive to work in the morning. No pressure on them apparently.

They have only issued tags for the last couple years. For the 25 years before that Corp of Engineers didn't let anyone catch any. The interstate is the property line. Almost comical how many lines get set under the interstate on the south side on the private land. If you want to see a pic of a gator caught last year send me your email address. hankgravois@cobridge.tv

never around Pelba,
I've definitely seen lines set up that way while I was fishing. I've also bow-hunted Indian Bayou early in the season, and when I came out in the boat after dark you couldn't turn the Q beam anywhere except up without seeing a dozen red eyes staring back at you. And that was for the entire 30 min boat ride out of there. Them gators are tick up in there.
