Is generic Talstar any good?

That's what I use. It's the same exact chem. Works great at half the price.

And where might one locate this product in the Baron Rouge area?

I got mine off Amazon. Stuff works. I don't spray but every couple months. I mix it strong and literally spray around the house, in the house, around all doors/windows. Ill also spray the fence like every other time.

Never really see any bugs unless it rains its butt off like a couple weeks ago.
