I was planning on getting a meopta meostar 3x12x56 rg illuminated reticle tax free weekend, but a buddy has a brand new 3x12x56 zeiss conquest he'd sell me for $500. Thoughts? I know zeiss is good, but I've only looked into prices of meoptas since I decided on it.

Eta: I think I'm going to get it just to have, but I really want a meostar.

So it's fair, but not a great deal?

It's either this or the meopta meostar illuminated red green with the 4c second focal plane 3x12x56. It's $1000 scope vs. this for $500.

I'm pretty damn happy with my Conquest. It does what it's supposed to do. I can't really say more than that. As fAr as the price, you may be getting a slight discount, but not much.

I'd take it and run. I recently purchased my scope after several months of deliberation on which to buy.

It came down to the MeoPro 4x12x50 for $549 vs the Conquest 3x12x56 for $599. The glass seemed a tad bit superior on the Conquest, but the weight of the 56mm was a bit much for my needs.

I'd buy the 50mm Conquest for $500 in a heartbeat. As a matter of fact, let me know your friends contact info if you don't buy it.

It's just an alright price... I'd spend the extra money and get a Zeiss Conquest 3-12x56.

Id say that's a good price. I doubt you find much of anything with Zeiss stamped on it for less than that.

We have the Meostar at Bowie's and I always tell people to compare it to the Swarovskis. They can't tell the difference in the store lighting

Buy it. That makes it a great deal. I came to post where you could get that scope for $600 shipped with no tax.

You must be who I talked to about a month ago at Bowie. Can you explain which focal plane to go with and also the 4c reticle and others. I know you can't tell me which to go with, but can you explain the benefits and negatives of each.
