And I want to shoot myself. If you're over the age of 16 and learn a single thing from this, you have no business ever touching a gun.

I took the classroom version with my son. I'm way too old to HAVE to take it but I thought it wouldn't be that bad. The instructor was some redneck who had a "personal story" for every topic that came up. Problem was he was one of those who would ramble on forever and never get to the point to illustrate the topic.

anybody born before '69 is grandfathered in for La, but if you go out of state, need it.

You can take it online and just show up for the shooting portion.

Right Here....

ETA - I would think you would be able to join the field day portion of your class since you are signed up, you would just have to ask

Just sent an email to the instructor.

some states make you say you will take it than they let you slide for a year, Kansas is one of those (or was)

If you've ever had one before you could have called LDWF and gotten a replacement card.

I took it back in high school, but the ldwf's site says that no information is available for my name

I ran into that problem a few years ago when I lost mine. I actually had to call them for them to look it up.

When using the website search function you have to be 100% accurate when searching for your name or it won't populate.

Yeah I was searching for mine and couldn't find it forever. Turns out my name is misspelled, hope that doesn't matter much...

CO, MT, WY, etc (most of the Western Elk states) will not. There have been guys who get elk tags, spend the money to get out there, new gun, new gear, and then can't hunt. That would get me a little warm.
