Just got a 2012 2500HD 4x4. Ordered it from the factory and it rolled off the truck at my house a few hours ago. Took it out for a drive and put gas in it and noticed that it is hard to turn. If I am making a turn at a light I have to accelerate fairly hard to keep going other wise it will almost stop. Feels like the tires are rubbing somewhere. Makes strange sound and I am pretty sure I can smell rubber. I looked at the fender wells and they look fine I guess, I have never had a 2500 before. It has pretty hefty shocks on it and there is a bar that looks like it connects the shocks to the axles. Is it normal for it to be like that or do I need to take it to the dealer?

6.0L gas engine with 4.10 rear end.

Definitely sounds like it's in 4x4,it prob has a limited slip differential and one tire needs to slip on the asphalt to make a turn.

I hope he reads this soon and doesn't drive it anymore until he takes it out of 4wd. Also read the owners manual concerning 4wd. There has to be a light on indicating 4wd.

The new chevys just have a knob on the dash. Looks just like the ac knob and its right next to it. Easy mistake to make.

Holy s#it. You're right never crossed my mind that's what it would be. The driver put it in 4low to back it up the semi. I'm an idiot. Thanks.

Dude it was in 4low and you didn't notice???????

FWIW, driving in 4low at high speeds can be bad for your transfer case from what I'm told.

ETA: Not saying yours is tore up or anything. I drove my truck about 20 miles in 4hi the other day. Pulled a boat out at the camp and went do other shite before I got in it and hauled arse. Didn't notice until I turned into the gas station barking tires

All this means is that you broke it in properly!

But seriously, there shouldn't be any damage. Except to your pride

Well, guess that about covers it. You'll look cool in your new 4x4 that you dont know how to operate though

Have a New Z-71 with that knob.
It's so easy even a caveman can do it.
And I love my truck. Even though it's not a Ford.

Maybe one of those Yell Leaders can help him

That goes without saying...

Make sure you don't try to put it in 4 low while you are moving.
You can put it in Auto 4 wheel drive or 4 high while moving..not 4 low ...
