Without trailer. What can you come up with for the bed of a truck? I've done a few POCs but nothing has really worked without being a total pain in the arse to set up. It can't be permanent to the bed, must be removable. Anyone ever build anything?

Stick in bed, strap down.

Bed extender and lay them on their sides.

What truck and what four kayaks? You could probably build a rack for your bed and use J-bar racks for each if your kayaks are small enough. If not, I'd get some PVC pipe and build a two-level rack that will fit in your bed.

A ladder rack. Two on top, two under. You can remove the rack when you need to.

I got an old plumber rack and cut it down to size. Only thing holding it down is two clamps

2014 Tundra crewmax, so the short bed. 12' ascend yaks. Just strapping them down into the truck doesn't give me a solution to the gear. But the ladder rack may.

This worked for me.

Lifeway's VBS theme last year was "Journey Off The Map" and the music area was a waterfall or something so we rounded up a few kayaks to put in their room. They fit pretty well in my dad's old truck, wouldn't want to carry them very far this way, though.

IMO, it's not the kayaks that are the problem, it's 4 people + 4 people's shite. I've taken 3 and would have gladly paid someone else's gas to take their own vehicle.

Yep it's the gear which some people don't seem to understand. Haha. Ice chests, tackle bags, life vests, paddles, rods, dry bags, etc.
