I am looking to have a house built in a year or so, and we are interested in using a lot of wood for exposed beams, even walls and floors. Where would I go to find pine and,or cypress such as what is in your picture? Any recs?

I laid some just like that on their sides and threw a box spring and mattress on them. The exposed ones look kind of cool running down the sides under the bed.

use them in your smoker. Pine pairs well with brisket.

There's actually quite a few. Higgins Company(where beams in pic are from), old mill, the corbel, antique woods of la are just a couple of places you can try. There's one place off of Choctaw I used for a mantle once. I'll post when I can remember the name

They're antique so there's no telling. We didn't add any stain

I have a 4 foot 16x16 piece of antique cypress that I am trying to figure out what to do. It's left over from a beam header in our house.

lay long side down, router out several 1" deep circles for candle globes for a table center piece or use small planters

This is a good idea. It'll go great with their dining room table

might be able to make a decorative ice bucket on the short fat one, again lay long way down, scrape out inside.

If they have kids you could make it into a kitchen helper step for them as well.
