Good job. You just killed a snake that eats all the bugs you don't want around house. Browns are some of the most beneficial snakes to have around

Interesting, I didn’t know about these until your post. However, if you look at the snake in his picture you can see the lighter colored line running down its back. Dekays have that line, and looking at pictures of the rough earth snake, it doesn’t look like they have that marking.

I joined a FB group "Snakes of a Louisiana, Identification and Discussion"

Very educating to learn about the types of snakes in this region and how to identify venomous snakes.

Some serious snake people there, too LoL
