Box stand. Been seeing yearlings and some does at dusk. Now that it's either sex I probably won't see one. Heading home after this hunt.

Slick, I have two x bolts. Not sure about without the mag. I never tried though

Good idea slick - I shot a doe this morning in raceland and if I would have waited 2 min I could have a good buck that was trailing.

I'm back this afternoon waiting on him.

Light south wind
Savage .270 looking down 2 shooting lanes in some thick pine woods with a feeder in the trees between the lanes. The acorns are still thick as shite on the ground and still falling when the wind blows.

Got a nanny that just popped out. On a ridge so hard to tell size. May be my yearling that's hanging around
Looks big in the scope but small to the eye at 80yds

You're nicer than me.

My philosophy this evening is shoot em quick and start drinking early.

It's hard to tell when it's just one deer. If you don't have meat in the freezer, ground check it.

I'm too scared to try a doe unless it has a yearling with it.

No meat in the freezer yet but this thing is about 80lbs just looks young. It looks to the the yearling that's been here the last few days. I have much bigger does so I've been letting this girl go

Back at it this afternoon. My cousin's son, grandson and good friend joined the party, so we've got a virtual net cast over his whole place. Anything that takes an evening stroll is at risk. My oldest shot a rotund doe around 9:00 this morning. Fattie weighed a little over 120#'s, pretty big for these parts. Wind has shifted, picked up, and temperature climbed, so I'm less optimistic than this morning.

Back on. Somewhere north of bastrop. Lot more comfortable than this morning was.

Jumped one when I pulled into the parking lot. Left the bike and walked the mile in

I killed a doe and missed an 8 pt early this morning. Wind picked up here too and shifted to south

Pretty much every hunting here saw deer this morning but nothing yet this afternoon.

The one I shot at was big but 300 yards away. It made the 110# doe I had just killed look like a midget
