I know there are a ton of options. Just looking for some input from the OB.

I wish road hunting was a legal means of taking them. They are abundant over there.

Anywhere around the Kerrville area will have free range axis hunts. The YO Ranch is very nice and has a ton to offer, but the way they do the exotic hunting sucks.

Has anyone bought the ranch yet? Poor Charlie 3 is probably rolling over in his grave thanks to his cluster frick kids.

Damn, hopefully someone treats it right. So many memories with that place as a kid going out there while my dad worked there, just hope it doesn't go to shite.

in college we had our conference golf tournament at comanche trace in kerville every year. every year we'd see tons of axis deer and white tail. i shite you not on a practice round we had a fricking brute 12 point and 2 8 points watching us tee off from about 20 feet away. it was amazing.

I think there's a shitpile of them in Texas.

I'd imagine that an axis hunt can be had for pretty cheap with good success. I know tons of deer pens have them.

Last time I checked, I think the going rate for a trophy axis was $2500-3000. Or you can pay that for a lease and get 'em during whitetail season. My oldest son took one in full velvet, I mean not a scrap disturbed. It was 30" tall, if it had been a little wider, it would have been an even more amazing trophy. Still an unbelieveable mount-all the velvet preserved.
