I think I made a mistake buying a LaRue MBT-2S

I wish I had not taken a ~$120 chance on Larue MBT-2S trigger for my 6.5 Grendel AR. After reading near universal glowing reviews I figured the LaRue was a safe bet and the price is good. I figured if anything the plastic jig it comes with would be useful for playing with and polishing other triggers. My hand polished mil spec triggers with JP springs break just under 5lbs. Between 4lbs 6oz and 4lbs 13oz depending on the lower. Never had a problem with them. They all go BANG every time with negligible creep and a nice clean break with no grit. I've been really happy with them and haven't had any light primer strikes on any of my rifles shooting anything from cheap Barnul and Wolf to mid priced Lake City XM193 and XM855 and finally Hornady A-Max and SST. I've never been a fancy trigger guy but after all the great reviews and the price seemed right I figured I'd give the LaRue a chance. After installing and shooting the MBT-2S the verdict is...

frick. Now I have to buy 4 more of these bastards. $500 mistake right there. I should have just wallowed in my ignorance fat and happy and $500 richer. If you like your milspec trigger and are happy with it just stick with it. Don't make the same mistake I did.

I have Geissele SSA-Es and SD3Gs in all my guns, but I'm scared that something similar will happen once my Honey Badger gets here with the ATC AR Gold trigger. I got to dry fire one and it was just retarded

Ya, I bought one when they were $99.

Its a great trigger. Much better than I expected. I do need a couple more.

Your story sounds pretty similar to mine except I don’t have as many ARs to stash them in. I’ve never been much of a trigger snob, sure there’s been ones that I haven’t cared for but I always just pushed past it and dealt with it. Then I picked up the first Larue when they went on sale and absolutely enjoyed it on a long barrel AR setup I have for predator/varmint hunting. Sure enough, next time they went on sale I just had to buy a second for my carbine length BCM that mostly gets used as a bushwhacking hog gun and probably never has never taken anything over 100 yards....oh well, no regrets. Great trigger for the price.

I tried some CMC's that Bowie has on display. I like them a lot.

Check primaryarms they have pof dropins on sale for $99 with KNS pins at the moment. Picked up a 3.5lb straight trigger for an AR-9 build.

I was looking at those today as well. They seem like a pretty good trigger for the 99 price tag. Tempting.

If the Larue is $99, get it instead of the POF.

I had the POF and sold it after getting the Larue. I am far from a Larue fan boy. I think the trigger is the only thing I own now. I feel it is a fantastic trigger.
