My old man has a license to buy some type of chemical that is $240 for 4 ounces and it will kill everything.

I can't remember the name but it's some stout stuff he buys somewhere in monroe.

There is a product called Sahara DG, it is granular and comes in a 10lb bag good for 1 acre. It will kill everything and stay bare for over a year depending on conditions. Just be careful with rain and overspray, it makes Round Up look like fertilizer.

ETA: You will need to mix in a sprayer with a nonionic surfactant.

If I spread the Sahara in a corner of my yard, will it creep and kill the whole yard?

Or can it be used as a kind of spot treat?

ETA: I have a major problem with a neighbor's Chinese paper mulberry "tree"

I would personally not use this in my yard, this stuff is for sterilizing the ground. I would only use it for clearing large areas of land.

Be careful. That stuff (or any soil neutralizer) can lead to a lot of soil erosion.

Yeah, that's also something you have to think about.

Well, that sucks. It seems like herbicides are all like this though.

"Oh you want something to kill that weed for good? Here is XYZ. But don't use it because your yard will be a nuclear holocaust."

"So what do I use, then?"

"You're shite out of luck brother."

What's the point

Eraser is just generic round-up just like ranger, killzall, etc. You got to look at the ingredients and not the brand name.

If you want to control woody plants and broad-leaf weeds there is Grazon. You need a license for it, but those aren't that hard to get. Contact your extension office and they can give you the study guides and tests.

Where would I go to get this good stuff? What kind of permit do I need? Will it kill my smallish oak trees? 6 inch diameter

You need a private applicators license. Basically it is all record keeping.

Your county/parish extension (4-H) office will have everything you need.
