Used to catch them all the time. I remember them being quite docile. Maybe it's just the memory of my fading youth misremembering.

When I was a kid I had no problems picking up certain snakes that I knew were nonvenomous but it only took one speckled king snake to cure me of that. MEAN.

Give me a hog nose for picking up anyday. Ain't messin with the kings.

Saw them all the time around my house few years back not so much anymore. Guess my lab ran them off?

Well if anybody wants to bring me two or three king snakes or chicken snakes I'd gladly take em. Chicken barn is filthy with rats.

My Dad said he's got about a 5 footer roaming his backyard. Helps protect the garden, though he didn't much enjoy removing the one that was gilled earlier this Spring in his strawberry net.

Those guys are snake eating machines...Theres a reason they are called King snakes. Good to have around IMO.
