When I was a teenager my dad shot a small buck while bowhunting on public land in N. AL. It was late season. We were tracking it after dark and I found one shed antler as we trailed it. And then I found the other side a little farther on. So, he was slick headed when we found him. Plus a coyote or something had chewed on him a little already. And then we dragged him about a mile down a gravel road to the truck, which wore a hole clean through his rib cage. By the time we loaded him up, he was the sorriest looking buck I've ever seen.
