I'm trying to find a replacement start/run capacitor for my AC unit. Anybody know a place in New Orleans that sells them, on Sunday?

From all the weekend AC threads, I'm thinking about going ahead and buying the capacitors and just having them in the closet. Don't cost much and don't take up any storage space at all.

Of course, I'd forget where I put them when they go out

Put them in a box next to your air handler/furnace.

Ideal parts
Most of the time they have an oncall guy to open but it can be pricey. Around here is 100 to open the warehouse. think i would wait til monday for just a cap! You could go to walmart and buy a couple of Ac windows units for uses during the hurrcane season.

You need the following capacitors and parts.

1 for the blower fan inside
1 for the fan and compressor
Some units have the fan cap separate from the compressor.
1 contact relay for the compressor and fan.

Lowes and HD don't carry these though.

I was thinking the same....either that or just changing them out every year or two, so that there is always a realtively new one installed...

U can order from amazon, but that don't help much today....as others have said, I might go and look and see which ones I would need and order to have on hand

So there should be one on the outside unit and one on the inside?

Only on the outside unit to my knowledge. It's two screws and a couple wires.
