Hustler or Gravely ZTR

Does it really matter which one I buy to mow my yard? I am looking for a new mower and I don't want to buy one from any of the home improvement stores. I am not going into business mowing yards but I do want to have one that is reliable and gets the job done quickly.
There is dealer here in Covington that sells both and I was wondering if it really mattered which one I buy.

Seems like if you were going into business for yourself, you'd have previous experience with the tools of your supposed trade. Worked for myself for multiple years in a different trade, and knew exactly what I needed when I went out on my own. Maybe you need to actually participate in the trade before you making easy money.

I am not going into business for myself. That is why I am asking the OB for recommendations.

Been looking at them. Those two are not on the buying list. Not much better then the ones sold at Home Depot.

Got a nephew that has been in the lawn service for 15+ years and I asked him. He knows a bunch of other people that do it too!
His answer, Exmart Pioneer. Kind of hard to pay that much for a lawn mower.
Kind of wants me to fence my yard in and get some goats.

Gravely ZTR is a better machine.

Hustler if you live in Central only because I can't stand Central Outdoor Power Sales. Wouldn't buy anything from those guys. Other than that I think both are good but I would go with Hustler.

I have a hustler Xone commercial. had it 4 years and it's a tank! I will never buy a different brand mower. Just slap some Carlisle super lugs on the back and your good to go!

We shopped and researched a good bit before purchase last year, and settled with a SCAG Tiger Cub. It has been 100% reliable, but granted it is only 1 year old. Solid, steel parts, great engine.
My old man has had a Hustler for a long time and thinks his is good, but he does all the work on it himself.
Our club has a XMart, and it has had problems over time w getting correct parts when it goes down. Funny that fish recommended them, but we stayed away because of past history.
We looked at Gravelys, but went with SCAG. If you have any options, I recommend the SCAG.
I will note, we bought knowing there was an authorized dealer/shop close so they could work on it in times of need... Per your post - sounds like you have access to Hustler & Gravely dealer/shop. In that scenario, I would go Hustler.
Make sure you get one with a Honda or Kawasaki motor. Do not buy a Kohler or Briggs (Briggs used to be the best engine, these days their quality has dropped signifcantly.)

i would determine which size and model I needed and compare the specs and price of each. Also, ask the dealer if they have a demo model that you can use to actually cut your yard with.
I have a little over 4 acres and went with the Gravely ProTurn 160. It is more mower than I need, but I work off so I felt buying a commercial grade mower was worth the extra money. If I were home all the time, I would probably have bought a residential model as I can do perform most repairs.
Also, when I was looking at Hustler and Gravely, my mom was having issues with her tension pulley spring breaking quite often. Turns out, they had some material issues with the springs from China and have resolved the issue on hers.

Just bought a gravely after lots of research - 48mos using someone else's money to boot. Great mower I have even picked up a couple neighbors yards because it cuts clean and fast - pays the note plus some.

I have a Gravely and love mine. Mine is the HD 52 which is built commercial grade with heavier spindles and pulleys. You can also stand on the deck without any flex. No experience with the hustlers but I love my Gravely

I bought the Gravely ZTR based off the recommendation of my neighbor that sold both Hustlers and Gravelys at one point. His recommendation was because of the quality of the parts used in the build. Said Hustler's was far inferior.
Had it for a year and I have been completely satisfied.

Hustler Fasttrack or Fastrack SD with Kawasaki or Honda motor..
My brother bought a Kubota from evergreen four years ago and he is still using it to this day. He swears by his Kubota ZG222.
I recently bought a TOR from ther local dealer in Franklinton because the March flood claimed my old Cub. It is not as nice as the mower you are looking at but it gets the job done.
I wanted the 48" fastrack from Hustler but I went with the local dealer in case I needed service.
