Hunting From Tree that Skylines You

No other tree? Gun or archery? High enough? Higher than needed? Woods or food plot? Corridor or destination? It all matters because you can’t be moving in some of those situations with a bunch of eyes around you.
In my opinion it doesn’t really matter about the camo in a skyline situation. I wear Sitka once the leaves fall and bottom land for early season, though.

Be still and make sure you can see far enough to get ready for the shot regardless if you want to shoot the animal or not.
“Far enough” only means that you can tell a deer is coming, but you might not be able to tell what it is. Not a huge opening.(In woods/corridor)
If in a destination type area you better be ready to go once the first deer gets there. I’ll stand once I see the first deer come into a food plot with a bow and get a gun in my lap if using a gun.
The key is minimal movement. And keep as much movement as possible tight to your body. Don’t go sticking your arms out reaching for stuff, pointing, or swatting at bugs. Keep everything as tight as possible.

Camo only does so much in that situation. They are going to see your movement and it won't look natural. I've worn my turkey hunting leafy suit in the tree stand and still been seen, now that's not normal. But it happens.

Given that 1000s of deer are killed every year out of climbers in pine trees. Your best bet is to have good visibility and see them before they see you, so you can not move.

I've considered, but never done before, dragging some libs up in the tree and hanging them on a hook. A good forked limb hung upside down seems like it would work good.

I thought about something similar.
You can get those fake Ficus trees at thrift stores cheap . Cut the main fake trunk and bring a couple of those up.

I've noticed some trees are better at this than others. And it seems every branch hold leaves longer if its cut than the regular Fall cycle. If you ever look up into a tree thats lost all its leaves and notice one branch still has its brown leaves its always broken from a storm.

Pretty sure beech trees hold their leaves a long time even after turning brown from the Fall.

For bow hunting, I usually look for a tree where I can climb 15 to 20 feet up. If the tree does not have good cover, I often use 3 or 4 limbs on the "foot" part of the stand to help add cover.

I will watch along the road I drive in on to see where I can find good branches to use. It only takes a few minutes in the morning to cut the limbs and they can be tied off to the the stand to carry them while walking.

If I am going to hunt the same tree in the next few days, I will leave the "cut" branches hanging on a tree limb to use again.

Yeah, my very cold jacket is in Predator Fall Brown. Had it for at least 15 years. Its passed the test in the treestand many times. That Predator Fall Gray would help with the sky for sure.

Almost looks like that dazzle paint scheme on WW1 warships.

I think I have solved this dilema. Snow Camo. Now i have to find it in a lite weight quick coverup suit.
