If they're coming in the evening, I'd go back then. Be there before them. Hide well

Gonna go check out the other part of the lake where I heard all the shots. Maybe they limited out and have already gone. I know exactly where they are on this part but there's a flooded Ravine I didn't account for when scouting cause the water is so high.

How is it legal to hunt a running trail?

Bring in a pirogue and hide in it

Well it's more of a horse/nature trail. But the hunting is restricted to shoreline, and since the shoreline is back a hundred feet or so the hunting area is pushed back.

Don't wanna bust your spot Masterag but mind letting me know if this trail is anywhere around Lewisville Lake? I only ask because I've thought about scouting parts of the backwaters this year and didn't know if it was worth the effort/already pressured pretty good. Thanks and good luck!

Nah farther south. Between waxahachie and ennis. How's it look up there? Lemme know if you wanna get together for a hunt sometime.

Found the spot where all the shots were coming from. Lots of lakefront space and trees to set up a blind and hide. Someone already had their spread out, so I'll try and sneak back in tomorrow AM. Haven't given up yet!

Preesh buddy! I haven't been out to Lewisville in 3 or 4 years because it's usually so damn crowded. The water is quite a bit higher this winter and there's a bunch of trails similar to your spot that are now covered up and may have created more options. If I make it out over Christmas and have any luck scouting, I'll be sure to let you know.

Is evening as good as dawn? What's the best time of the day generally?

If it's a roost area, yes. But you said you heard them in there in the evening, so that's when it would make sense to hunt them
