Got a 999 SIGH wired up last week. Put the finishing touches on today such as transducer and GPS puck mounted. I had the unit on and cranked the boat and the screen went dark. It's still getting power but there are no graphics, just black lines that you can barely see. Anyone have issues like this before?

Does it go back to working when you turn the motor off?

What kind of boat/setup?

Sounds like the engine is reducing your electrical power throughput to the wires you have the unit spliced too.

No it doesn't go back to working. It's a 2011 Stratos bass boat.

Checked voltage at plug at have 12 volts. I hooked it up to another battery and still nothing but lines

If you're positive the unit is getting enough juice, that leaves you with a software issue or signal interference issue. I've encountered the interference issue before with my SI hummingbird on the front. Basically my trolling motor was interfering with the unit and making the screen do weird things. Splicing to a different set of wires and using liquid tape fixed it.

I've never had a software issue so I'm unsure exactly how to handle that one. Best bet is probably to call hummingbird and see what they say.

That or google your problem and see what comes up.

mine does it once in a while when I crank the motor...
the unit sits onto a bracket that lets you push a button and remove the unit to secure it....
I simply remove it, which kills the power to it, and reseat it and it comes back up...

I had the same issue. 2005 stratos Yamaha 150 HpDI. I bypassed the circuit board and direct wired it to the battery. Turn it off and on at the unit. If you take the unit out of the bracket and put it back In - or unplug the power and plug back in - should work again
