Hull Coatings

I have a 15x48 express all-weld made with very thin sheet. I toss and turn at night because I do not think the hull without a coating will hold up to a stump at high speed. So looked into gator-glide and epoxy coatings and just wanna know if any of y'all have any experience with this. Is it even worth painting a coating on the hull? Any noticeable increase in speed etc.

I don't think the gator glide will protect against a stump at high speed. It just makes the hull slicker so it will slide over obstacles easier. It would make the hull faster as well.

I don't think there is anything you can spray or wipe onto a thin aluminum hull to make it measurably stronger. The Xpress 15 foot boats are .08 thickness in the hull. Anything below .1" thickness is too thin to be running around stumps. Actually, you shouldn't be running in stumps in any boat. Gotta slow it down.

How is it going to make the hull faster? Certainly any difference is going to be so miniscule as to be unnoticeable.

You would be very surprised. It makes the hull very very slick. Less drag on the hull will make the boat faster.
