How would you structure a guy's southeast fishing vacation?

If you had 3-4 days, and were willing to travel an hour or so if necessary each afternoon to the next place-where would you go and how would you structure it?

I'd love to get something together for my son and some our our pals next year. Never caught smallmouth, never fly-fished a stream. Pretty much all I've ever done is bass fish and spent a couple days on 2 trips chasing reds (not much luck) and speckled trout.

I don't freshwater fish so I can't help you on that but I would definitely include a day trip chasing reds/specs as well as a day trip offshore chasing tuna

Guided trips?

Can't beat sightfishing reds in Fourchon in my opinion.

Could do an inshore trip one day and an offshore trip the next day.

Maybe drive up to Lake Ponch and fish that area.

Fly in and out of NOLA with a rental.

You could do northeast Arkansas Flyfish one day on white or Norfork for trout. Greers ferry lake for walleye, smallmouth on buffalo, canoe the buffalo

Or just go to Venice. Offshore one day, inshore next, bass the next

Or Florida. Bass fish middle part of state then ease down to the keys and get your saltwater fix

I would go down to Venice Louisiana, rent a lodge.

First day and evening fishing insore hitting the reds/specs. Eat fresh redfish on the half-shell that night, make ceviche with the "white" fish you caught to bring offshore with you the next morning to go after Tuna, Ling, Mahi, etc.... (and a few red snapper on the way back in).

Would be the fishing trip of a lifetime for most, with some of the best food available.

I would have to try a guide that fishes out of the sea-plane.
He's on Don Dubuc all the time but I forget his name.

ETA: Autoyes_clown beat me to it...

SE Stream Fly fishing - Arky, NC, N. GA.
SE Float Fishing - Devils River in Texas, Arky

These would be fun freshwater fishing and camping experiences.

Can fly fish north of Birmingham on the Sipsey Fork. Plenty of bass lakes around, and some contain smallies.

If you want to go some place that has ample smallies & largemouth, go to the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. There are plenty of BIG lakes in a relatively "small" area.

You could go to Venice and stay in a lodge there. Do inshore saltwater fishing one day for reds and/or specks, then do an offshore trip out of Venice the next day out to the oil rigs. Could also do a night time bowfishing trip out of that area.

Toldeo Bend for freshwater action on some sac-a-lait (crappie) and bass...though TB is about a 5 hour drive from Venice.

ETA: could also rent a place in Grand Isle for a couple days and do offshore, inshore, and bowfishing all from there too. And you can surf fish from the beach there too.
