Man this thread depresses me. I haven't shot one yet this season. I took one shot at a buck during bow season. We see nowhere near as many deer on our lease as some of you guys. 1100 acres and we've killed like somewhere between 12 and 15 so far this season. At this point if anything legal walks out it's dead. I need meat.

I probably average a chance at killing every 10-12 hunts or so. I see deer a little more often, but either I don't get a shot or it's not legal.

And I see no problem with killing a doe late. Early or late either way it's not having fawns.

I'm really starting to think the last place I hunted was a shite hole. 1000 acres and they only took out 10 deer a year between 10 members. Always had a nice mature buck but they were rare to see due to hunting pressure.

I shot a dow with my bow opening weekend and then during muzzle loader I screwed up and shot this little guy.

I watched him and watched him and watched him. I worked myself up and made him bigger than he was. the first time i put the saftey back on I should have put the gun down and folded my arms.

That's something I'd be proud of recently.

He had a 2 year old looking rack but a 3 year old body. 195lbs on the scale. thats one of the things that threw me off.

I just keep thinking about what he would look like in a year or two. he is very symetrical and has a slight palmation on one side.

When I was a younger man and killed every damn thing that came by, I racked up 10 deer and 9 hogs in a single rifle season in GA.

I'm sure it depends on where you are and what the local deer herd is like, but in that area of GA(Hogansville/LaGrange) I rarely if ever sat the stand without seeing deer.

For me, if I go more than 3 days without seeing game I'm looking for a new lease.

I wouldnt be that quick, but I know people who only see a few deer a year and stay in a lease. They spend money and a lot of time and hardly have anything to show for it. they like the places because they are closer to home but if youre not seeing anything, does it matter?

Was in the same club for 3 years and only saw 3 deer. Shot all 3 of them but it was hard hunting.

There are many hunters who are content just to sit in a tree not seeing shite just to get away from their wife.

I figured out over a decade ago that what I spent on lease dues, work days, gasoline, tags, food, ammo, etc. when combined with the lost time that I could be earning money that you're better off going on paid hunts.

I'd rather one fricking amazing week in a hunting paradise than 3 months of Groundhog Day every weekend where nobody sees or kills shite. Theres nothing worse than hunting a dream buck that doesn't exist. And I'm not going to mention hunting club politics...

I'll probably never join a deer lease again...

It really depends on what point in the season it is. I could have killed a doe on 90% of my hunts from opening of bow season (10-1) until the second week of modern gun (the weekend before thanksgiving) After that the pressure on the deer has turned them almost exclusively nocturnal. Ive been getting at best 2-3 daylight pictures.a week on each of 5 trail cameras.
