Yea. He looked ridiculous. My wife even commented as she said he must have a small penis.

She knows I carry conceal and when I open carry I do so with my large leather jacket over it.

He really screamed douchebag. People like him bother me. Billy badass they come across as.

It did bother me in the sense it was crowded with kids and anyone could have walked up and unholstered it. Was a plastic holster. No retention snap or anything.

I'll agree with most of you. Those clowns scare me as they are out to prove something. Next thing they will be interfering and playing cop when they have no business getting involved. Been carrying for more than forty years and have never open carried or had to pull it.

I have problem with open carry. If it works for you then do it. Is Halloween the right time and place? When ever is it a right time and place?

I would not have but I have no problem with it. Sober open carry, 0 problems. Drunks on 4 wheelers, 12 known problems

It's these guys that give firearms a bad name. I'm all for open carry but if you really want to go get your CCL. It isn't necessary to let everyone in Starbucks know you have a gun. On top of that, it doesn't mean you know what the hell to do with the damn thing anyways.

Not sure. I've never developed that kind of mindset. I'd think you would have to have some kind of social deficiency to not understand the negatives far outweigh the positives.

I agree with most of you that open carry puts you at a tactical disadvantage and that some of them give us gun owners a bad name with an aggressive stance/mindset and a hand on the gun. But in the name of logic let me address this mindset:

quote:

Those clowns scare me as they are out to prove something.

Why exactly would you be scared of these people? Find me one incident where an open carry rally ended in gun fire. If you want to use logic, these people would probably provide you more safety than anything.

I know some of you may point to the story of a dude's Walther P22 being stolen from him while open carrying. Fine but just like not letting one isolated incident with a psycho (any mass shooting) dictate how the rest of us should be, I don't see how we should let this one incident dictate every open carrier in the United States.

I'll end with this: We combat anti-gunners with logic because logic is always based in fact and observation. If we stoop to the level of judging someone with emotion, we have stooped to their level. That is EXACTLY how they use their tactics - emotion. "Do it for the kids" and other statements of the like.

USE LOGIC: While these people can potentially be assholes, until I see one of them actually commit a crime and become a statistic, I'll continue to use LOGIC like I should be.

I agree, but forcing your point of view without considering all the implications is an emotional reaction. Rational actions imply accounting for all factors, and I don't think some of the social warriors (regardless of issue) take that into consideration. "In your face" activism on the right is as much of a failure as it is on the left.

I'm not forcing anything. I'm simply stating that people should think this issue through before they speak.

And to this I agree. I thought I made that clear in my statement but I guess I should reiterate that I agree.

Did not mean to imply. Simply referring to the people who do.

I do think open carry would prevent you from getting jumped and beat on a quiet street. See most Nola muggings. The atackers look for easy targets

But I guess once in a blue moon an attacker goes all Hollywood and may attack a person openly carrying a gun.

I don't see any emotion in this thread. There is no logical reason to open carry in your driveway on Halloween with kids around. Logic is for intelligent people and this guy was not one of them.
