Plan on making a trip tomorrow morning, looks like 1-2ft seas with 5-15 mph wind out of the west. Not the most ideal conditions but hopefully manageable. Are live shrimp the ticket, or can I just go with some topwater/vudu shrimp/matrix shad/Gulp combo?

They caught a limit of F250s and threw back a couple Chevys last week.

With a West wind the beach will be calm. Early morning I like to fish top-water just because but if you are hunting numbers then fish double-rig plastics from the beginning. Live shrimp is always a no brainer but if the fish are there you can use the old school sparkle beetle and do just fine.

Ended up with 8 or 9 specs. Caught most of them on a mirrorlure topwater with an orange belly. Switched to live shrimp under a popping cork after that slowed down and caught several undersized specs, a few 12" specs and a bunch of hardheads. Water color was good early on but got real dirty around 9 or 10. We probably should have moved around the beach but we stuck it out on one spot right in front of the new parking area.

Going back this Thursday to see if we can improve on the numbers, supposed to be SE winds 5-10 with seas 1-2ft. I think there will be an east wind the next few days, changing to a SE wind on Wednesday. We plan on moving as far east on the shore as we can then working our way back as the day goes on.

You definitely need to walk down the beach and look for spots were the water flows out between waves like a riptide. A lot of times you see cloudy water and then a small stretch of green water. I like to fish both in those conditions. If the winds are out of the south or east and its over 10mph I don't waste my time. If there is less than a foot tide range, I also don't waste my time.

Thanks for the advice, I have never really known what to look for. Looks like the tide range is right at 1ft for Thursday, I will keep an eye on the wind.
