My old boss plants around 50 acres of food plots every year and he strings up VCR tape around it while it's growing. Deer won't come near it for some reason. Trouble nowadays is finding VCR tapes though.

Never had this problem. They're usually hammering the acorns, and from hunting other places, I've noticed a lot of our food plots are bigger than most.

we plant our fields early enough that the deer still have plenty of natural food sources before the cold weather kills them.

Around here it seems like no one in our club even starts seeing deer in green field until all the honey suckle and acorns are gone.
although we have one field on our property that is known as turkey field, every yr we have to plant it at least twice b/c turkey have paw it up.

that is just my personal observation not saying i'm dead on.

ok after re-reading that i didn't give you a solution, sorry LOL

Cabelas sells some stuff that you can spray on your plots. It makes them bitter for a few weeks to give then some time to establish.

VCR tapes

I have enough old porn tapes in the attic to string around the earth at least twice.
