If stick doesn't stop him, I kick him or I get out of his way.

If I carry a gun outside of hunting season, it is to offensively shoot any hog I see, not because I think I need to defend myself personally from them.

If hunting a WMA or Federal Reserve you can only open carry what is allowed during the time of your hunt.

ETA - if you have a CC you can carry just not in offices or buildings lcoated on a refuge. MY bad I forgot they changed the law in 2010.

I guess I've just been lucky enough to work and play in the woods my whole life. The way I see it, once I get out of my truck and in the woods, that's the safest I'm gonna be all day, and it isn't even close.

And I can only kill the babies with my hands. Big ones take a pocket knife sometimes.

The only regulation against carrying is a caliber restriction set by the LDWF or the USFWS for purposes of hunting regulation. There is no criminal law against CC'ing on a WMA/refuge

Criminal law or not, you will still get fined, right?

Possibly, even probably. Depends on the agent. The reason I posted that is someone posted it was illegal to cc on wmas which is not true.

A fine for having a certain caliber during bow only is less than losing your CC/getting cuffed and booked for carrying illegally

The "trigger" safety is really just a gimmick. That's like calling an accelerator a brake pedal. But it does prevent a drop-fire if your finger is not on the trigger when you drop it. Same if something small finds its way in the trigger guard.

I had no idea they sold XDs with thumb safeties. I had to look it up to see what it looked like. Very interdasting...

When you come to my place to hunt make damn sure if you approach or trail a shot hog you do so locked and loaded.

Wait, I thought that was your job!

Naw, if I am going in after a wounded hog, I will have my rifle ready. May bring my mosin so I can ground check them with a bayonet.
